Proclamation congratulating the Allegheny League of Municipalities’ 2014 Banner Communities of Bethel Park, Mt. Lebanon and Upper St. Clair, and recognizing Mt. Lebanon and Upper St. Clair for earning certification as sustainable communities through the Sustainable Pennsylvania Community Certification Program.

WHEREAS, for the first time ever, the Municipality of Bethel Park has been named a 2014 Banner Community by the Allegheny League of Municipalities (ALOM) for providing effective, efficient and accountable services to its residents and businesses; and
WHEREAS, the Banner Communities Program award is given to those municipalities that implement best practices in all aspects of their operations and that govern in an inclusive, collaborative manner; and
WHEREAS, the designation acknowledges Bethel Park’s efforts to inform and engage citizens through frequent and open communication, public and community events and mentoring; and
WHEREAS, Bethel Park has proven itself as a model municipality through community events and activities, educational programs, civic performance, sustainable governing practices and fiscal accountability; and
WHEREAS, the elected officials and staff of the Municipality of Bethel Park are outstanding professionals that consistently utilize group decision-making models and best practices for consensus-building in order to deliver the highest quality of services to the residents of Bethel Park;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate the Municipality of Bethel Park for being named a 2014 Banner Community by ALOM, and we thank the Municipality of Bethel Park for serving as an exemplary model of local government.
