Proclamation recognizing Ms. Grace Robinson for being named the honoree of the Celebrate & Share gathering and for her professional accomplishments and community involvement.

WHEREAS, Ms. Grace Robinson, business pioneer and role model for women, became the first African-American woman in Western Pennsylvania to own and operate a State Farm Insurance Agency; and
WHEREAS, in 1992, Ms. Robinson founded, Tomorrow's Future, Inc., a mentoring entrepreneurial and job-training program for teens. Under her leadership and with a cadre of volunteers over 300 students throughout Allegheny County have benefited from this program; and
WHEREAS, Tomorrow's Future equips young people with the basic communication and employment skills needed to compete in today's marketplace. The program provides scholarships and incentive awards to its graduates; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Robinson is a founding Member of the African American Chamber of Commerce, a Board Member of the African American Entrepreneur Forum, Member of the National Association of Women Business Owners, Urban League of Pittsburgh and the YWCA of Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Robinson is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Minority Business Pioneer from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, the Outstanding Leadership Award from the African American Chamber of Commerce, and she was named Role Model for African American and Latino girls by the Pennsylvania Commission for Women, just to name a few;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council recognizes Ms. Grace Robinson for her professional accomplishments and significant contributions to the community. We commend you for your vision and leadership which serves as an inspiration to the residents of this great County of Allegheny and to all.
