Proclamation congratulating and honoring Kim Lavern Jefferson and Lynn Verdell Jefferson-Doswell for their perseverance in the face of adversity.

Body

WHEREAS, Kim Lavern Jefferson and Lynn Verdell Jefferson-Doswell were born on Veteran's Day - November 11, 1955 - at Madigan Army Hospital in Tacoma, Washington to the late Bernard Hayes Jefferson and the late Shirley Mae Jefferson at 2:33 P.M. and 2:45, P.M., respectively; and

 

WHEREAS, Kim Lavern Jefferson and Lynn Verdell Jefferson-Doswell are both breast cancer survivors for two and one half and 16 years, respectively; and

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Jefferson and Ms. Jefferson-Doswell provide outreach to others through the Community Leadership Development Institute, where Kim serves as President and co-founder, as well as through Lynn's work with the youth ministry efforts of the Allegheny Alliance Church; and

 

                                          WHEREAS, Ms. Jefferson and Ms. Jefferson-Doswell have shared the gifts of love, laughter, friendship and support with Ms. Jefferson-Doswell's children, David and Brandon, as well as with their many family members, friends, and individuals whose lives they touch; and

 

                     WHEREAS Ms. Jefferson and Ms. Jefferson-Doswell each credit their deep and abiding faith, as well as the memories of and lessons learned from their deceased parents, for their dedication and steadfastness;

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate and honor Kim Lavern Jefferson and Lynn Verdell Jefferson-Doswell for their perseverance in the face of adversity.  Each woman's ability to channel their considerable energies to assisting others within the community both inspires us and arouses our deepest gratitude.  On the occasion of their fiftieth birthday, offer our sincerest wishes for the happiness and the best of times to follow.
