WHEREAS, Allegheny County has been home to individuals, such as Mr. Anderson P. Little, who have dedicated their lives to enhancing the quality of life in our region; and

WHEREAS, in 1972, Mr. Little was hired by WDUQ-FM at Duquesne University to work with students and develop a community affairs voice. He hosted several programs over the years: "Window Into the Community," "Community Perspective," and "Pittsburgh Perspective," which evolved into "The Anderson Little Report." The weekly show focused on many subjects, from jobs and education to social and cultural topics; and

WHEREAS, although our community grieves at the passing of an individual who so completely personified compassion and community spirit, we know that he will always be remembered, and we join with his family in giving thanks for the life of Anderson P. Little, a leader in the African-American community and one of the most admired and respected pioneers we have encountered;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize Mr. Anderson P. Little for his impact on this community and its citizens. Mr. Little's commitment to exceptional broadcasting, covering minority issues, and public service, serve as inspirations to us all and, while we cannot hope to replace him, we can honor his memory by commending and emulating the spirit of his dedication.

WHEREAS, in 1979, Mr. Little was appointed city magistrate by Mayor Richard Caliguiri, and in 1985, he was elected to Allegheny County Common Pleas Court, serving 10 years in the Criminal Division, followed by 8 years in Orphans' Cou...
