Proclamation recognizing Allegheny County Labor Council honorees Kenneth Broadbent, recipient of Labor's Man of the Year Award and Joseph Pass, Sr., recipient of Labor's Preeminent Attorney Award.

WHEREAS, on Friday, May 2, 2008, Mr. Ken Broadbent will be recognized as "Labor's Man of the Year" at the Allegheny County Labor Council's 15th Annual Banquet Dinner; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Broadbent, Business Manager for Steamfitters #449 since 1999, is being honored as a result of his exceptional knowledge of and dedication to local union operations; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Broadbent has been a member of Local 449 and the United Association for more than 31 years; and
WHEREAS, a graduate of the UA Instructor Training Program, he also holds an American Welding Society Qualification as a Certified Welding Inspector; and
WHEREAS, he has attended three years of HVACR classes at CCAC and classes for Non-Destructive Testing and served as a welding instructor from 1981 until 1989; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his service as a local 449 officer, Mr. Broadbent has also represented UA members as Vice-President for District 2 since 2007 and has held many other elected and appointed positions, including President of the PA Building Trades and a member of such organizations as the National Association of Parliamentarians and the Apprentice and Journeymen Training Committee of the Heating, Piping, and Air Conditioning Industry;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council wishes to congratulate Mr. Ken Broadbent for being named "Labor's Man of the Year" by the Allegheny County Labor Council. Your commitment to the hard working men and women of Allegheny County is commendable, and we thank you for all that you have done and for all that you continue to do.
