Proclamation recognizing Colonel Robert J. Cahalan as he retires from his position as the Liaison Officer Director for the United States Air Force Academy Admissions Liaison Officers in Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, Colonel Robert J. Cahalan is being honored upon his upcoming completion of 29 years serving the Air National Guard and United States Air Force Reserve; and

WHEREAS, Col. Cahalan has honorably served the United States Air Force Reserve Forces since 1979 and possesses a military career distinguished by his unwavering commitment to the tenets of service to country and man; and

WHEREAS, Col. Cahalan is the Liaison Officer Director (LOD) for the United States Air Force Academy Admissions Liaison Officers in Pennsylvania, where he provides direct oversight for admissions accessed from high schools in Allegheny County and over 1,400 high schools throughout Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, Col. Cahalan enlisted in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard in 1979 and graduated from U.S. Air Force basic military training with an Honor Graduate Distinction and Medal. He served in operations intelligence with the 112th Tactical Fighter Group (TFG) before earning his commission in 1983. As a Staff Officer, Col. Cahalan worked in ground safety before completing the Department of Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute Program at Patrick AFB, Florida. Col. Cahalan then served as a Social Actions Officer in the 112th TFG. In August 1979, he assumed command of the services flight in the 112th TFG and completed several required courses at Wright-Patterson AFB and Eglin AFB, where served as Commander until 1994; and

WHEREAS, immediately subsequent to his Air National Guard Service, Col. Cahalan entered the U.S. Air Force Reserve and was assigned to a position in the Air Force Academy Admissions Liaison Officer Program. He assumed his current position as Liaison Officer Director for Pennsylvania in 2001; and
