Proclamation recognizing the grand re-opening of the Jenny Lee Bakery in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Jenny Lee Bakery is a family-owned bakery offering a variety of fresh baked items such as cookies, breads, pastries, cakes and seasonal goods; and

 

WHEREAS, founded in 1875, when Michael A. Baker opened a shop in Pittsburgh's West End, Jenny Lee now operates three retail bakeries in the Pittsburgh area and their products can be found in a variety of retail grocers, club stores and farm markets; and

 

                     WHEREAS, Jenny Lee Bakery was destroyed in a fire on Thanksgiving Day in 2006, but on April 2, 2007 the McKee's Rocks Island Avenue store re-opened to the delight of family, friends and loyal customers; and

 

                     WHEREAS, many people have pleasant memories of the products of the Jenny Lee Bakery; especially those prepared for the special occasions, such as birthdays, graduations, and weddings, as well as for the holidays;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate Jenny Lee Bakery and the Baker Family upon the momentous occasion of the re-opening of their store.  This Council recognizes the historic importance of the Jenny Lee Bakery and thanks the Baker's for continuing to provide delicious baked goods to Allegheny County residents and visitors alike.
