Proclamation congratulating the Municipality of Mt. Lebanon for earning national accreditation in 2014 for its Main Street program.
Body...
WHEREAS, the National Main Street Center, established in 1980 as a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, works with communities to encourage preservation-based economic revitalization; and
WHEREAS, the National Main Street Center's Main Street program accreditation process evaluates local Main Street programs according to 10 performance standards and provides national recognition to those that meet these standards; and
WHEREAS, the Municipality of Mt. Lebanon's Main Street program is one of 32 communities in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the only one in the South Hills, to earn recognition in 2014 as a nationally accredited program by the National Main Street Center; and
WHEREAS, Mt. Lebanon's Main Street program, which has earned annual accreditation since 2005, focuses on the central business district along Washington Road, and the Mt. Lebanon Partnership, a nonprofit community development agency, administers the program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate the Municipality of Mt. Lebanon for earning national accreditation in 2014 for its Main Street program, and we also thank Mt. Lebanon for enhancing Allegheny County through its successful revitalization effort.
