Proclamation honoring ITC (SW) David J. Ringhand (USN) for his exceptional leadership, dedication and commitment to serving our country and community.
Body
WHEREAS, on June 6, 2007, at the White Oak American Legion, the United States Navy Chief Petty Officers Association will recognize ITC (SW) David J. Ringhand (USN), a distinguished serviceman that was stationed for four years at the U.S. Naval and Marine Corps Operational Support Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, Officer Ringhand helped disabled veterans by organizing active duty Sailors and Marines to assist with the Veterans Administration of Pittsburgh's “Caring and Sharing” week, and under his guidance, full-time support personnel and selective reservists distributed over 1 million toys and touched the lives of some 50,000 children annually in the TOYS FOR TOTS Program in Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, he has helped orchestrate numerous Chief Petty Officers Association events, including the Annual Navy Ball, the Annual Blarney Ball, and numerous fundraisers, helping to create bonds between retirees, currently drilling reservists, and active duty sailors; and
WHEREAS, under his direction, his staff professionally performed military honors at over 1,500 funerals during his tenure; and
WHEREAS, Officer Ringhand's support and participation in the Sea Cadet Program has been extremely helpful to young Cadets, and he has volunteered and encouraged his staff to volunteer in the Starbase ATLANTIS program, a U.S. Navy Program that exposes at-risk 5th graders to real-world applications of math, science and technology. His actions provided over 2,400 students with positive role models;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize and honor ITC (SW) David J. Ringhand (USN) for his exceptional leadership, dedication and commitment to serving our country and community. You have gone above and beyond the call of duty, serving as an inspirati...
