Proclamation recognizing Esther Miscosky, who was honored by the Borough of Tarentum as a distinguished business owner, and declaring May 20, 2008 as "Esther Miscosky Day" in Allegheny County.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed to have residents who spend their lives serving others; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Esther Miscosky has spent nearly 70 years serving the people of Allegheny County through her work in local businesses; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Miscosky began her career as a secretary for the Logan Lumber Company in the 1950s; and
WHEREAS, when the Lumber Company went out of business a decade later, local contractors convinced Ms. Miscosky to take over the paint line, which she re-named Logan Paint Company; and
WHEREAS, it has been through her work as owner of Logan Paint Company that Ms. Miscosky's exceptional dedication to customer service has shone, much to the benefit of the residents of Tarentum; and
WHEREAS, in addition to her work at Logan Paint Company, Ms. Miscosky also devoted much of her earlier years to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brackenridge, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, directed the Christmas play, and assisted with the Halloween party;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council joins with the Borough of Tarentum in commending Ms. Esther Miscosky for her years of service to the Tarentum community. Furthermore, we hereby declare May 20, 2008 “Esther Miscosky Day” in Allegheny County.
