Proclamation commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Borough of Churchill.

WHEREAS, the boroughs, townships and municipalities of Allegheny County have existed for many generations, providing significant historical context to our storied region; and
WHEREAS, the Borough of Churchill will celebrate its 75th year of existence on August 29, 2009 at the Westinghouse Science and Technology Center; and
WHEREAS, the community will gather to commemorate the great history of the borough, including remembering sites of the Revolutionary War, paying tribute to landmarks such as the Beulah Church, and honoring the first Borough Council meeting that occurred in 1934; and
WHEREAS, the celebration will focus on the borough's efficient government, environmental friendliness, and its rich residential character, all of which have been preserved since the community's inception; and
WHEREAS, serving over 3500 residents, the Borough of Churchill is one of Allegheny County's most historic and storied communities, and we are proud to honor the borough and its fruitful history;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of the County, joins with the Borough of Churchill in celebration of its 75th anniversary. We commend the borough for its great history and for graciously serving its residents. Furthermore, we hope the borough will continue to operate as it has been throughout the course of its impressive history.
