Chief Mackey, a graduate of Duquesne University, has been the head of the Bethel Park Police Department since 2000. Chief Mackey has shown a strong commitment to protecting the safety of the Bethel Park Community, including his work to fight drug use in the Bethel Park School District, where he initiated a program that uses trained dogs to identify the lockers of suspected drug users. Allegheny County Council wishes to join with the Allegheny County Chiefs of Police Association in recognizing Chief John Mackey as an outgoing President of the Association.
