Proclamation congratulating Sue Wessell for being named 2008 "Citizen of the Year" by the Clairton Chamber of Commerce.

WHEREAS, throughout its history, Allegheny County has been blessed with exemplary leadership, with visionaries of great skill and determination, making invaluable contributions to our communities and our County; and
WHEREAS, Sue A. Wessel, President of the Clairton City School Board of Directors, is one such leader and community champion, remaining steadfast in her dedication, in the best tradition of American public service; and
WHEREAS, prior to being named President of the Clairton City School Board, Ms. Wessel served as Treasurer of the Clairton PTA, Director of Clairton City School, and Vice-President of the Clairton City School Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Wessel has an exceptional community service record which includes memberships with the following organizations: Member of the Young Democrats of Jefferson Borough, President of the Clairton Junior Women's Club, Assistant Den Leader and Financial Secretary of Cub Scouts Pack 69, Treasurer of Clairton Bank Boosters, Board Member of the Wilson Civic Association, Clairton Recreation Board Member, and Secretary of the Clairton Democratic Committee; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Wessel has been married for 32 years to James D. Wessel, they are the proud parents of two children and proud grandparents of two grandchildren, with a third grandchild due in July 2009;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize and congratulate Ms. Sue A. Wessel for earning the Clairton Chamber of Commerce 2008 “Citizen of the Year” Award. Your outstanding efforts and contributions to the community serve as an inspiration to us all.
