Proclamation declaring Sunday, December 6, 2015 to be “AUTISM Frostbite 5K Run/Walk and Community Day” in Allegheny County.

WHEREAS, on December 6, 2015, the 5th Annual AUTISM Frostbite 5K Run/Walk and Community Day will take place at the North Park Lodge to raise awareness of autism in benefit of the Team Cassie Foundation and Back in the Saddle; and
WHEREAS, this year, TJ Burke, a former autism therapist whose Positive Movementz Promotions and Event Management organizes the run, has added an “Ugly Christmas Sweaters” theme with participants encouraged to wear their favorite ugly holiday sweater and Community Day featuring live music, a magic show and much more; and
WHEREAS, the Team Cassie Foundation was founded last year by Mike Bruno, whose daughter Cassie is autistic and legally blind. The Team Cassie Foundation was created to benefit and enrich the quality of life of the special needs community and their families; and
WHEREAS, Back in the Saddle is a therapeutic horseback riding program. Research shows that students who participate in therapeutic riding can experience physical, emotional and cognitive benefits;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Allegheny County Council does hereby declare Sunday, December 6, 2015 “AUTISM Frostbite 5K Run/Walk and Community Day” in Allegheny County, and we thank TJ Burke and Positive Movementz Promotions for raising awareness of autism in our community.
