WHEREAS, Allegheny County recognizes the importance of improving the legal, social, and economic status of women; and
WHEREAS, the Women's Law Project assists women through litigation, public policy advocacy, public education, and individual counseling; and
WHEREAS, the Women's Law Project accepts a small number of high- impact cases which have the potential to benefit large numbers of women or to significantly advance women's rights; and
WHEREAS, the Women's Law Project performs speaking engagements, sponsors conferences, promotes coalition building, provides technical assistance to legislators, writes and publishes brochures and self-help handbooks, and offers free telephone counseling and consumer education services on a variety of family- and work-related issues;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of Allegheny County recognizes the Women's Law Project as it celebrates its 5th anniversary in Pittsburgh. Your dedication to improving the legal, social, and economic rights of women is to be commended.
