This Certificate of Achievement is awarded to Mr. Andrew John Michael Galata of Boy Scout Troop 854 in recognition of his attainment of the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, the highest advancement rank in Boy Scouting; less than 2 percent of all male youth are able to earn this rank. Mr. Galata has met all necessary requirements in areas of Leadership, Service and Outdoor Skills to advance to the Eagle Scout rank. This Council commends Mr. Galata’s diligence and skill: two traits he has displayed throughout his scouting career and his dedication to our community. For his leadership service project, Andy renovated three (3) rooms in the old St. Irenaeus School and transitioned their use for the Preschool, CCD and Youth Groups. Andy painted the rooms, added a tree mural to one of the walls, improved the storage space, and dismantled and removed old desks. The metal parts from the desks were sold at a scrapyard, and the school not only saved on material and labor costs, but actually made a profit. Learning atrium components, an integral part of the new curriculum, were built and decorated for the classroom. Throughout his participation in the Boy Scouts, Mr. Galata has set a high standard of commitment and fervor that the youth of our great county may follow.  He serves as an inspiration to this Council and to the citizens of Allegheny County.
