Proclamation recognizing Leadership Pittsburgh, Inc. as it celebrates its 25^th anniversary.

Body

WHEREAS, 2008 marks the momentous 25^th anniversary of Leadership Pittsburgh, Incorporated, the premier resource for community leadership in Southwestern Pennsylvania; and

                     WHEREAS, with the backing of the Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Pittsburgh Inc. was organized in 1983 and since that time, has graduated more than 1,400 regional leaders; and

WHEREAS, after its inception, Leadership Pittsburgh Inc. quickly grew into an independent nonprofit organization with the mission of strengthening regional leadership through programs, partnerships, and connections; and

WHEREAS, Leadership Pittsburgh Inc.'s mission is now being carried out through three core programs: Leadership Pittsburgh (LP), the selection-based flagship program designed specifically to enhance the leadership skills of senior level leaders; Leadership Development Initiative (LDI), designed to provide leadership development opportunities for emerging leaders; and Leadership OnBoard (LOB), designed to allow emerging leaders experience with the governance of nonprofit organizations; and

WHEREAS, in addition to the core programs, Leadership Pittsburgh, Inc., in conjunction with the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, has offered three additional programs since 1995: Opportunity Connections, Champions Connections, and Executive Welcome;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council congratulates Leadership Pittsburgh, Inc. as it celebrates its 25^th anniversary.  Furthermore, we thank you for your dedication to strengthening the leaders of our region so that we may truly maximize the vast leadership potential of Southwestern Pennsylvania.
