Proclamation honoring Reverend Katrina Organ for being named the first female pastor of Beulah Baptist Church.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the dedicated spirituality of the citizens and the community of Allegheny County is evident in the success and the diversity of our area's religious leaders; and

 

WHEREAS, Reverend Katrina Organ was named the 14th pastor of Beulah Baptist Church on October 25, 2009, becoming the first female ever to be elected as pastor of the church; and

 

WHEREAS, Reverend Organ was born in Talladega, Alabama and moved at a young age to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, furthering her education in County schools and graduating from Carlow University; and

 

WHEREAS, Reverend Organ began her spiritual journey as a Sunday school superintendent and teacher, a deaconess, and the first female deacon of Beulah Baptist Church; and

 

WHEREAS, Reverend Organ followed her calling to Dr. John T. Leftwich and Reverend Marcella Leftwich, who directed Reverend Organ to furthering herself down God's path, where her unparalleled leadership and passion for the Word of God helped her to become the first female pastor of Beulah Baptist Church;

 

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, commends Reverend Katrina Organ for her dedication to her ministry and congratulates her on becoming the first female pastor of Beulah Baptist Church.  Reverend Organ has been blessed as a great spiritual leader and we thank her for guiding the citizens of our community towards the calling God has for their lives.
