This Certificate of Recognition is presented to Mr. Peter Catanese upon the momentous occasion of his 90th birthday. Mr. Catanese was born on February 27, 1925; Born to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Anna Catanese, Peter had five brothers, Steve, Charles, Anthony, Angelo and Roger. In the early 1950's, they opened "The Catanese Brothers," which consisted of a gas station with a garage repair service, new and used auto sales, towing service, followed by an auto salvage yard for used car parts. Mr. Catanese served four terms as a West Deer Township Supervisor and is the last surviving original supervisor. As a leading community servant, Mr. Catanese was an integral part of bringing sewage to West Deer Township, which resulted in the population explosion that brought about the new Deer Lakes High School. He also led efforts to open the new municipal building. Peter was married to the late Dorothy Karp for 50 years and together they had a son, Joseph Catanese, and daughters, Helen Ann Goodhart and Anna Marie Catanese. Mr. Catanese is the proud grandfather of three grandchildren, Melissa, Ashley and Joey. We honor Mr. Catanese for his contributions to the community, and we recognize his longevity, which can be attributed to his positive outlook and proactive approach to life. This Council wishes him all the best as he celebrates his 90th birthday.
