Proclamation honoring American Legion Post 106 for the post's handicapped-friendly renovations.

WHEREAS, veterans' associations throughout Allegheny County dedicate their services to memorializing the men and women who have fought diligently and selflessly for our nation throughout history; and
WHEREAS, American Legion Post 106 in Sharpsburg has exhausted tireless efforts to ensure the veterans of Allegheny County are recognized properly; and
WHEREAS, on June 6, 2009, American Legion Post 106 will dedicate the first stage of its handicapped accessibility project, which includes the opening of a new parking lot, decks, ramps, doors and sidewalks that are easily accessed by disabled veterans; and
WHEREAS, the post will dedicate this stage of the project to Chief Warrant Officer Michael J. Novosel, who was a recipient of the United States' highest military decoration - the Medal of Honor - and served our country in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War; and
WHEREAS, this project and dedication ceremony is a testament to the efforts of American Legion Post 106 to honor the men and women of Allegheny County who have served relentlessly to protect and defend the United States of America;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, hereby commends American Legion Post 106 of Sharpsburg for completing stage one of its handicapped accessibility project. The post's tireless dedication to veterans of our County is to be widely recognized and mirrored by all of our citizens.
