Proclamation commending Verona Borough Police Officer Sean Blake for his lifesaving actions on November 6, 2008.

WHEREAS, Verona Borough Police Officer Sean Blake has consistently proven himself to be hero while protecting his community; and
WHEREAS, in the early hours of November 6, 2008, Officer Blake demonstrated an act of true selflessness and bravery; and
WHEREAS, while on patrol, Officer Blake received a call alerting him to a building fire on Allegheny River Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, when he arrived at the scene, Officer Blake noticed a resident trapped in building, which by that point was engulfed in smoke; and
WHEREAS, Officer Blake, setting aside any concern for his own life, ran into the building to save the resident, who was trapped on the second floor; and
WHEREAS, after kicking the door open, Officer Blake was able to escort the resident out of the apartment, saving his life;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council wishes to commend Verona Borough Police Officer Sean Blake for your brave actions during the early hours of November 6, 2008. Not only did you save the life of a local resident, but through your act of leadership, you have proven yourself to be an inspiration to the Members of this Council and to the residents of our great County of Allegheny.
