Proclamation recognizing and commending Ruth Byrd-Smith for her significant contributions to providing minority, women and disadvantaged businesses with opportunities for growth and development. 

Body

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed to have individuals such as Ms. Ruth Byrd- Smith for her exemplary leadership as Director of Allegheny County Department of Minority, Women and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise; and

 

WHEREAS, as Director she is “Raising the Bar in the 21st Century” by creating an environment that promotes meaningful business opportunities, showcases viable M/W/DBE firm capabilities, builds productive partnerships and exercises effective program management, targeted towards successful integration of M/W/DBE firms within the business structure of Allegheny County and surrounding areas; and

 

WHEREAS, she currently serves as Chair for the Pennsylvania Governor's Advisory Commission on African American Affairs (GACAAA), which aims to strengthen the African American community through access to government and opportunities; and

 

WHEREAS, Ruth is well deserving of recognition by the Governor's Advisory Commission for African American Affairs and Allegheny County Black Elected Officials;

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council hereby recognizes and commends Ruth Byrd-Smith for her significant contributions to providing minority, women and disadvantaged businesses with opportunities for growth and development.  We express our gratitude to her for helping make Allegheny County and our region a better place in which to live and work.
