Allegheny County Council is honored to present this Certificate of Achievement to Mr. Matt Bernadowski for being named the 2014 Daily News Boys' Athlete of the Year. Mr. Bernadowski has excelled in three sports at Elizabeth Forward High School, including football, track & field and basketball. In the 2013-2014 football season, Mr. Bernadowski scored 21 touchdowns, including four on punt returns and two on kickoff returns. He had 29 receptions for 758 yards (26.1 yards per catch) and helped Elizabeth Forward reach the postseason for the second year in a row. During the track & field season, he became the WPIAL 110-meter hurdle champion, and earned a silver medal at the PIAA championships. Mr. Bernadowski was a starter for the Elizabeth Forward basketball team, frequently scored in double figures and played a key role in the Warriors going 20-4 and advancing to the WPIAL Class AAA quarterfinals. Mr. Bernadowski's contribution to Allegheny County's long legacy of sports champions is to be commended.
