Proclamation commending former Mt. Lebanon Police Chief Thomas Ogden for nearly 30 years of service.
Body
WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed to have leaders who risk their lives to protect the well-being of those they serve; and
WHEREAS, for more than 29 years, Thomas Ogden proudly served within the Mt. Lebanon police force, first as a policeman, then as the supervisor of the criminal investigations unit, and for the past decade, as Police Chief; and
WHEREAS, Chief Ogden's contributions as a member of the police force include his efforts to connect with the Mt. Lebanon School District and with the South Hills Area Council of Governments in order to present the public with a uniform method of communication; and
WHEREAS, in order to further protect the safety of area residents, Chief Ogden worked with the Mt. Lebanon Police and Fire Departments establish a more structured on-site support system to be utilized during emergency situations; and
WHEREAS, Chief Ogden, now the Director of Security at Carnegie Mellon University, has distinguished himself as a caring, dedicated leader who takes the time to connect with those he leads and who constantly seeks to improve the safety of our area's residents;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council hereby commends Chief Thomas Ogden for his many years of service to the Mt. Lebanon police force. You have set a standard of excellence that serves as an inspiration to the members of this Council. We wholeheartedly thank you for your demonstrated commitment to protecting the residents of Allegheny County.
