Proclamation celebrating the 2008 Riverview Park Heritage Day Festival.

WHEREAS, Saturday, June 7, 2008 will mark Citiparks' 2nd Annual Riverview Heritage Day in Allegheny County; and
WHEREAS, the celebration will kick off with a community parade along Perrysville Avenue from Perry Traditional Academy to a reviewing stand inside Riverview Park; and
WHEREAS, Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl will serve as Grand Marshal of the parade, which will feature the Pittsburgh Police Emerald Society Pipes & Drums, the Western Pennsylvania Firefighters Memorial Honor Guard Pipes & Drums and multiple other participants from throughout Allegheny County; and
WHEREAS, at the conclusion of the parade, a dedication will be held at Riverview Park's Chapel Shelter, which, with the help of the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy and the City of Pittsburgh, among many others, has been restored to its original beauty; and
WHEREAS, the remainder of Riverview Heritage Day will provide children and adults with a day full of fun and educational activities, including pony rides, a petting zoo, a pie-eating contest, art activities, health screenings, and tours of the Allegheny Observatory;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council joins in celebration of the 2008 Riverview Park Heritage Day. Furthermore, we wish to thank Citiparks, KQV AM, ARAD, and all of the remaining sponsors and participants who have brought this worthwhile and enjoyable event back to Pittsburgh for its second year.
