Proclamation congratulating Joseph Sauter for being named the 2008 Turtle Creek Citizen of the Year by the "Woodland Progress."

WHEREAS, lifelong Turtle Creek resident Joseph Sauter was recently named Turtle Creek's "2008 Citizen of the Year" by the Woodland Progress; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Sauter has been an active resident of Turtle Creek throughout his entire life, where he has served the Borough in a multitude of facets; and
WHEREAS, for more than 40 years, Mr. Sauter was a faithful worker for the U.S. Postal Service, spending thirty years in Monroeville, seven in Pittsburgh, and a few more in Turtle Creek; and
WHEREAS, following his retirement from the U.S. Postal Service, Mr. Sauter became active in the Rotary, where after only five years, he was nominated as President; and
WHEREAS, through his involvement with the Rotary, Mr. Sauter has been instrumental in countless projects on both a local and international scale, including a Valentine's Day dance to raise money for borough projects, a project that will provide a water supply for a village in Malawi, and many projects that benefit local youth, including the Hamilton Avenue Summer Youth Program and the Teen Leadership Program of Gateway Rehab; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Sauter is most proud of his service with the local volunteer fire department, where, in addition to holding various positions including trustee and first and second assistant chief, he helped orchestrate the building of a firemen's memorial to honor the past firemen who bravely served their community;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council hereby congratulates Mr. Joseph Sauter for being named Turtle Creek's "2008 Citizen of the Year" by The Woodland Progress. We thank you for your dedication to the residents of Turtle Creek and wish you success in your future endeavors.
