Motion of the Council of Allegheny County authorizing the publication of Request for Proposals for Professional Insurance and for Employer Insurance.

WHEREAS, “Professional Insurance” shall be defined as insurance for Allegheny County Council (“Council”) and its staff covering the insureds for those actions undertaken while acting in their official capacity and for covering lawsuits for actions undertaken while acting in their official capacity;
WHEREAS, “Employer Insurance” shall be defined as insurance to cover claims against Council and its staff for employment related matters, including, but not limited to, discrimination suits or alleged wrongful conduct such as sexual harassment;
WHEREAS, the Request for Proposals will require the Proposers to provide rates for insurance, details of coverage, and whether attorney fees related to claims will be covered;
WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of Council to request proposals from insurers with relevant experience and training to provide Professional Insurance and Employer Insurance coverage to the Allegheny County Council and its staff;
The Council of the County of Allegheny therefore hereby moves as follows:,
Council hereby authorizes the publication, no later than January 20, 2023, of notices of the Request for Proposals for both Professional and for Employer Insurance: (1) on the County website; (2) on the County’s usual purchasing/RFP internet portal; and (3) in a newspaper of general circulation within the County. Responses to the Request for Proposals shall be due February 28, 2023. The Request for Proposals shall be in a form approved by the Solicitor to Council.
