Proclamation congratulating Mr. Samuel Bieller for being named the 2007 Senior Companion of the Year, sponsored by the Allegheny County Department of Human Services, Area Agency on Aging.

WHEREAS, on June 1, 2007 at the Edgewood Country Club, Mr. Samuel Bieller, 65, of Bellevue, Pennsylvania was honored as Senior Companion of the Year; and
WHEREAS, the Senior Companion of the Year and other service awards are presented annually by the Senior Companion Program which is sponsored by the Allegheny County Department of Human Services Area Agency on Aging; and
WHEREAS, the program is designed to help frail, homebound seniors in need of assistance and to offer a friendly, personal visit to help dispel loneliness; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Bieller has been a volunteer for three years, and is always willing to go the extra mile, traveling every Monday through Friday to serve nine consumers;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize and congratulate Mr. Samuel Bieller for being named the Senior Companion of the Year. We thank Mr. Bieller for his dedication to serving a cause greater than self and we commend his significant contributions to the community.
