Proclamation recognizing Educating Teens about HIV/AIDS, Inc. for their efforts in designating March 2009 as an HIV/AIDS awareness month.
Body
WHEREAS, Educating Teens about HIV/AIDS, Incorporated is an organization whose mission is to inform pre-teens, teens and young adults about how to prevent the contracting and spreading of HIV/AIDS; and
WHEREAS, the organization collaborates with the business community and encourages schools, houses of worship and community groups to plan programs to educate teens about the disease; and
WHEREAS, March 2009 marks the Ninth Annual Educating Teens about HIV/AIDS Month, and the group has spearheaded numerous programs to call attention to the awareness period; and
WHEREAS, March 24, 2009 signifies Teen HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, furthering the efforts to notify our community's youth about the diseases; and
WHEREAS, the group has established programs that will continue to inform the community about how to prevent and avoid contracting this virus, a service which is to be greatly commended;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that this Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, hereby honors Educating Teens about HIV/AIDS, Incorporated for their dedicated services to our community. Furthermore, we hope the group continues its quest to prevent the spreading of HIV/AIDS.
