Allegheny County Council is honored to present this Certificate of Recognition to Father Jack O'Malley, the chaplain of Allegheny County Labor Council, in honor of receiving the council's “Labor's Social Advocate and Activist Award” at the organization's 16th Annual Banquet Dinner. Father O'Malley is being recognized for his valiant efforts to link religious teachings to the fair treatment of workers. He was a key figure in bringing the “Labor in the Pulpits” program to the council and to Western Pennsylvania, where members of various religions have become attentive to the harmony of community, clergy and organized labor. Father O'Malley's innumerable contributions to the Allegheny County Labor Council are to be commended. On behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, we praise Father O'Malley for his commitment to bettering the treatment of the working people in our county and state by connecting faith with labor.

 

Allegheny County Council is honored to present this Certificate of Recognition to John Tarka, the president of Pittsburgh Federation Teachers Local #400, in honor of being named Allegheny County Labor Council's “Labor's Man of the Year” at the council's 16th Annual Banquet Dinner. Mr. Tarka is being recognized for his outstanding knowledge of and dedication to local union operations. He has a long history of involvement on many key federation committees, commissions, and organizations in Pennsylvania. His union and education work experiences are just as diverse, and his innumerable contributions to the Allegheny County Labor Council are to be commended.
