Proclamation congratulating Central Catholic High School Athletic Director and Boys' Basketball Coach Chuck Crummie for achieving his 500th career victory at the Varsity level.
Body
WHEREAS, Central Catholic High School, a school conducted by the Christian Brothers, Diocesan Clergy, and dedicated laymen and laywomen under the auspices of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, has been building a tradition of excellence in academics and athletics since 1927; and
WHEREAS, Central Catholic prides itself on providing its students with athletic coaches of the highest caliber, including Athletic Director and Basketball Coach Chuck Crummie, who has served as the Head Varsity Coach for a remarkable 28 seasons and who has also taught mathematics at Central Catholic for 34 years; and
WHEREAS, Coach Crummie's extensive list of accomplishments includes participation in the 1986-87 WPIAL Class AAAA Title Game, the 1987-88 PIAA Class AAAA Title Game, and multiple WPIAL Section Championships; and
WHEREAS, Coach Crummie's coaching expertise has provided inspiration to those whom he has worked with and coached, with two former assistant coaches making the leap to collegiate-level coaching and numerous former Central Catholic players coaching at the grade school and high school levels; and
WHEREAS, history was made on December 29, 2007, when the Central Catholic Basketball Team defeated Council Rock South, 63-45 in the consolation game of the Williamsport Holiday Tournament in Williamsport, PA, giving Coach Crummie his 500th career victory at the Varsity level; and
WHEREAS, in addition to distinguishing himself as an excellent coach and teacher, Chuck Crummie is a devoted husband to his wife, Mary, and a loving father to his two daughters, Caitlyn and Courtney, and his sons, Devin, Sean, and Kevin, all three of whom have played basketball under the tutelage of their father;
