Proclamation recognizing the 20th anniversary of the Allegheny Land Trust and declaring November 22, 2014 as "Allegheny Land Trust Day" in Allegheny County.

WHEREAS, the Allegheny Land Trust (ALT) is a regional leader in conserving and stewarding lands that support the scenic, recreational, and environmental well-being of communities in Allegheny County and its environs; and
WHEREAS, since 1993, the Allegheny Land Trust has protected over 1,700 acres of green space in Allegheny and Washington Counties; and
WHEREAS, Allegheny Land Trust has established a successful record of fiscal responsibility and management, leveraging capital dollars at the ratio of 2:1 and operating effectively with a lean staff and budget; and
WHEREAS, Allegheny Land Trust's new strategic plan supports the ALT Greenprint, A Regional Conservation Agenda that prioritizes conservation for the public good; and
WHEREAS, on November 22, 2014, the Allegheny Land Trust will host an event at the National Aviary entitled "Come Fly with Me" to celebrate 20 years of land conservation excellence;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby thank the dedicated Allegheny Land Trust board, staff and volunteers for working to protect local open space in Allegheny County and our region, and we hereby declare Saturday, November 22, 2014 as "Allegheny Land Trust Day" in Allegheny County.
