Proclamation recognizing the 10th anniversary of the 4 Kids Early Learning Network.

WHEREAS, since its inception in September 1998, the 4 Kids Early Learning Network has served more than 2,000 children and their families; and
WHEREAS, nationally accredited 4 Kids is a project of Heritage Health Foundation, Inc. (HHFI), a community-based organization serving the residents of the Mon and Turtle Creek Valleys; and
WHEREAS, the program provides infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarteners with education-based care guided by carefully planned curriculums that include multiple enrichment activities which help prepare young children to be “school-ready” on a number of levels; and
WHEREAS, 4 kids is supported by a multitude of agencies and organizations, including the School Readiness Group, the Woodland Hills School District, the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, The University of Pittsburgh's Office of Child Development, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, the UCLID Center at the University of Pittsburgh, the National and Pennsylvania Associations for the Education of Young Children, the UPMC Health System, and a Community Advisory Board; and
WHEREAS, led by HHFI's President and CEO Robert M. Grom, Vice-President of Children and Youth Services Barbara G. Willard, and Board Chair Michele Atkins, 4 kids is blessed to be served by a caring and dedicated staff who receive comprehensive training in child development and CPR so that they may provide the highest possible quality of services to the children and families who allow the organization to thrive;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council congratulates the 4 Kids Early Learning Network on the momentous occasion of its 10th anniversary. Furthermore, we commend the staff of 4 Kids and Heritage Health Foundation, Inc. for their commitment to serving the cognitive, emotional, physical, social, and creative needs of our children, and by doing so, setting them up for
