Proclamation honoring Judy Butch for her years of service to the Allegheny County Health Department.
Body
WHEREAS, Judy Butch launched her career with the Allegheny County Health Department in trailblazing fashion as its first female Sanitarian in 1968; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Butch advanced through the Health Department's inspector ranks as a Sanitarian I, Sanitarian II and Supervisor Sanitarian, performing various types of environmental inspections to protect and enhance public health; and
WHEREAS, exemplary work enabled Ms. Butch to join the Health Department's management team in 1976 as an Environmental Health Administrator I and subsequently be promoted in 1981 to Environmental Health Administrator II; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Butch proceeded to efficiently and effectively manage a variety of environmental health programs and mentor numerous environmental health staff in the ensuing years in many locations all across Allegheny County; and
WHEREAS, since 1995, Ms. Butch served as Operations Manager for the Housing and Community Environment Program, overseeing inspections related to complaint housing, institutional housing, schools, swimming pools, indoor air and vector control; and
WHEREAS, over the course of her career, Ms. Butch played an instrumental role in the development and implementation of many innovative approaches to bringing about compliance through both public education and regulatory enforcement;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council does hereby commend Judy Butch on her retirement from the Allegheny County Health Department after 40 years of dedicated, loyal and meritorious service to the citizens of Allegheny County.
