Proclamation thanking The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and declaring Friday, July 11, 2014 "Cosmopolitan Pittsburgh Day" in Allegheny County.

WHEREAS, founded in 1984, The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is a non-profit arts organization whose mission is the cultural and economic revitalization of a 14-block arts and entertainment/residential neighborhood called the Cultural District; and
WHEREAS, using the arts as an economic catalyst, The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust has holistically created a world-renowned Cultural District that is revitalizing the city, improving the regional economy and enhancing Pittsburgh's quality of life; and
WHEREAS, thanks to the support of foundations, corporations, government agencies and thousands of private citizens, the Trust stands as a national model of urban redevelopment through the arts; and
WHEREAS, on Friday, July 11th, The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Partner's Board will host the 8th annual Consol Energy "Cosmopolitan Pittsburgh" fundraiser at the August Wilson Center, presented by UPMC and UPMC Health Plan; and
WHEREAS, following a gallery crawl around the Cultural District, Cosmopolitan Pittsburgh becomes the Crawl After Dark hotspot to include interactive entertainment, art, food, music, and a pulsating dance party;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby declare Friday, July 11, 2014 "Cosmopolitan Pittsburgh Day" in Allegheny County, and we encourage the residents of Allegheny County to recognize and support The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust for enhancing the quality of life in our great city and county.
