Proclamations awarded to the 2014 Grandparents Raising Grandchildren (GRG) program honorees.

WHEREAS, realizing that over the years many grandparents have successfully raised grandchildren but have not received public recognition for this important contribution to society, the McKeesport Grandparents Raising Grandchildren (GRG) Program established a Tribute to Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Day; and
WHEREAS, this year's Tribute will take place on October 4, 2014 at the McKeesport Presbyterian Church in McKeesport, during which GRG will recognize eight grandparents for their outstanding contributions to their family and the community, as well as three individuals that helped co-found a new support group in Bridgeville; and
WHEREAS, the honorees have demonstrated that grandparents can take a positive leadership role in the lives of their grandchildren, the economic growth of their families, and the strength of the community;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate the 2014 Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Program Honorees. We acknowledge and thank each grandparent for their commitment and dedication to serving their family and the community.
