Proclamation commending and congratulating the Pleasant Hills Public Library on its 60th anniversary, recognizing its commitment to the neighborhood and its citizens, and offering our sincerest thanks to all past and present library staff members for their dedication and professionalism.
Body
WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed with individuals and organizations dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our neighborhood and the community as a whole; and
WHEREAS, the Pleasant Hills Public Library opened on November 29, 1945 in a room on the second floor of the local fire hall, and the Board of Trustees celebrated with a tea for the public; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees is holding a 60th Anniversary Tea celebration, scheduled for the week of November 13, 2005, to recognize all present and former staff members, volunteers, and board members; and
WHEREAS, certificates of appreciation will be presented to the following eight local organizations which have supported the library over the years: Friends of the Library, Pleasant Hills Garden Club, Pleasant Hills Borough Council, Pleasant Hills Road Crew, Pleasant Hills Lions Club, Rotary Club, Boy Scouts Troop # 204, and Boy Scouts Troop # 231; and
WHEREAS, the week long event will include the tea celebration, a puppet show for young children, a book review for adults, a dinner and Pittsburgh POPs concert outing, and an Antiques Appraisal Day;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby commend and congratulate the Pleasant Hills Public Library on its 60th anniversary. The library's commitment to the neighborhood and its citizens serves as an inspiration to us all, and we offer our congratulations and sincerest thanks to all past and present library staff members for their dedication and professionalism.
