Proclamation declaring June 2008 "Safety Month" in Allegheny County.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County will hold its 2nd Annual “Safety Month” events throughout June 2008; and

 

                     WHEREAS, the seminars, presented weekly throughout the month of June, are open to all Allegheny County employees and are aimed at reducing the illnesses and injuries that may affect County employees; and

 

                     WHEREAS, the week of June 2nd will focus on the myths and truths associated with infectious diseases, including those surrounding MRSA, HIV, Hepatitis, and Blood Borne Pathogens; and

                     

WHEREAS, the week of June 9th will present strategies for dealing with aggressive drivers, as well as defensive driving techniques; and

 

WHEREAS, during the week of June 16th, County employees will have the opportunity to participate in “CATEYES” training to help them protect themselves and others from terrorism; and

 

WHEREAS, the week of June 23rd will focus on stress reduction and yoga techniques to help County employees stay focused during their work days;

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council hereby declares June 2008 “Safety Month” in Allegheny County.  Furthermore, we encourage all Allegheny County employees to participate in the weekly seminars provided by the County so that they may learn new information and techniques that will guide them on the path to living happier, healthier lives.
