Proclamation recognizing Charlene Hrivnak for being named the Plum 2008 Citizen of the Year by the Advance Leader.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Charlene Hrivnak was recently named the 2008 “Citizen of the Year” by the Plum Advance Leader ; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Hrivnak earned this distinction as a result of her dedication to serving the Plum community through a variety of efforts; and
WHEREAS, after discovering that the 2006 Sugar Plum Days, a much-loved holiday event in Plum Borough, was cancelled, Mrs. Hrivnak volunteered to be the Chair of the Sugar Plum Days Committee for 2007; and
WHEREAS, through Mrs. Hrivnak's leadership, Sugar Plum Days grew from a two-day weekend to a six-day festival in 2007and will continue to grow in 2008; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Hrivnak, along with her husband, Plum Mayor Rich Hrivnak, and their son, Richie, also holds an annual Toys for Tots and local food pantry benefit every year, gathering hundreds of gifts and food items for those who are less fortunate; and
WHEREAS, additionally, Mrs. Hrivnak dedicates much of her time to the community as a member of the Plum Borough Parks and Recreation Steering Committee, as a volunteer with the Plum Borough Democratic Committee, and as a national account executive for CVS Care Mark;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council hereby commends Mrs. Charlene Hrivnak on earning the well-deserved honor of being named “Citizen of the Year” by the Plum Advance Leader. You have set a standard for excellence that serves as an inspiration to the members of this Council and to all the residents of Allegheny County.
