Proclamation celebrating the 40th anniversary of The St. Louise Men's Fish Fry Fundraiser and thanking the volunteers for their significant contributions to the St. Louise de Marillac Church and the community.

WHEREAS, the Saint Louise de Marrillac Church, located in Upper St. Clair, County of Allegheny, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, holds an annual men's fish fry event where donations are received from hundreds of generous companies and services; and
WHEREAS, April 28, 2006 marks the 40th Anniversary of the St. Louise Men's Fish Fry Fundraiser, an event that is recognized as one of the largest in the County, routinely serving thousands of men with a stag evening including food, games, raffles and cheer; and
WHEREAS, the St. Louise Men's Fish Fry Fundraiser is an outstanding community event that has turned into an institution, drawing people from all over the South Hills and providing men with an exciting day of positive interaction and activities; and
WHEREAS, the volunteer group, numbering well over 100 people, spends up to 12 months planning in advance for the successful fundraiser; and
WHEREAS, the men's fish fry group has proven to be an asset to the community raising over $700,000 since its inception. In 2005 alone, the event raised $60,000. The money supports St. Louise athletic programs and the school;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council hereby recognizes and congratulates the St. Louise Men's Fish Fry Fundraiser on the occasion of their 40th anniversary, and we thank the volunteers for their hard work and join in celebrating this momentous occasion.
