Proclamation honoring Mr. Richard J. Federowicz for being named the 2014 Outstanding Polonian by the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Kosciuszko Foundation.

WHEREAS, Mr. Richard J. Federowicz has the distinction of being one of the original members of the Pittsburgh Chapter of The Kosciuszko Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting educational and cultural exchanges between the United States and Poland and to increasing American understanding of Polish culture and history; and
 
WHEREAS, the first member of his immediate family to attend and graduate from college, Mr. Federowicz earned a bachelor's degree in international relations and history from Lehigh University in 1974, and a law degree from Duquesne University in 1977; and
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Federowicz is a shareholder at the law firm of Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote, P.C. where he specializes in medical malpractice and estate litigation; Prior to joining the firm, he was a partner in the law firm of Weis & Weis (1980-1988) and a staff attorney at Neighborhood Legal Services Association (1977-1980); and
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Federowicz is a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County and has been named one of The Best Lawyers in America®, which recognizes the top 4 percent of practicing attorneys in the United States; He was also named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer® in 2004, 2006 and 2012-2014; and
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Federowicz has served on the Shaler Area School Board (1985-1997), the Vincentian Collaborative Services board of directors, as a charter member of the Polish Cultural Council and as legal counsel of the Polish Falcons of America for 24 years;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate Mr. Richard J. Federowicz for being named the 2014 Outstanding Polonian by the Pittsburgh Chapter of The Kosciuszko Foundation, and we thank him for his positive impact on our community, which serves as an inspiration to us all.
