Certificate of Recognition honoring the 50th anniversary of the McKeesport International Village.

WHEREAS, cultural celebrations hosted by communities throughout Allegheny County remind residents of the significant heritage that exists in our region; and
WHEREAS, for 50 years, McKeesport's International Village has displayed a cornucopia of cultures to residents so they may experience the true essence of a multi-cultural community; and
WHEREAS, the nationality festival will be celebrated from August 18, 2009 to August 20, 2009 and will ensure that all who participate will receive a rich understanding of the diversity of food, entertainment and history from the many different heritages present in our community; and
WHEREAS, the International Village has kept many of our region's unique ethnicities alive, and the unmatched quality of the festival is to be commended greatly; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, hereby celebrates the 50th anniversary of the International Village hosted in McKeesport. The festival's annual recognition of our region's multi-cultural heritage is to be applauded. We thank those who have contributed to the preparation and execution of the ceremony, and we hope it continues to flourish for many more years.
