WHEREAS, Dr. Stewart Sutin has placed his stamp of character and hard work throughout the community, as both a public servant and strong leader; and

WHEREAS, during his time as a senior vice president and international department head for Mellon Financial Corp., Dr. Sutin was responsible for global strategy, identifying strategic partners, negotiating joint ventures, and global marketing to financial institutions; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Sutin is a member of the Research Advisory Committee for Carnegie Mellon University, and serves on the advisory boards for the Center for International Studies, the Center for International Business Studies, and the Center for Latin American Studies - all at the University of Pittsburgh - and also serves as a member of the Jewish Healthcare Foundation Board of Directors and the Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Sutin contributed significantly to initiatives in higher education as a lecturer, advisory board member, and trustee in the Pittsburgh region; and

WHEREAS, his vision for the Community College of Allegheny County includes the formation of the following centers: Center for Learning, Center for Health Careers, and the Center for Professional Development; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Sutin earned a Ph.D. in Latin American History from the University of Texas at Austin, a master's degree in Latin American Studies from Georgetown University, and a bachelor's degree in history from Pennsylvania State University; and

WHEREAS, on Tuesday, May 11, 2004, Dr. Stewart Sutin will be inaugurated as the Community College of Allegheny County's sev...
