Awarded to

The Ellis School - Earthkeeping Experience Unit

This Certificate of Recognition is awarded to 5th grade students in the Ellis Earthkeeping Experience Unit, a special interdisciplinary unit in which students join a fictitious business and examine environmental problems.  In addition to visiting the Soergel Orchard, the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Treatment Plant, Rachel Carson's Homestead, and the Cheswick Power Plant, the students will visit Allegheny County Council to give them a closer look at government processes and businesses similar to their fictitious ones.  You have set a high standard of commitment and dedication which the youth of our great County of Allegheny may follow, and which serves as an inspiration to this Council and the citizens of Allegheny County.
