This Certificate of Recognition is presented to Ms. Florence "Flo" Bartolomeo upon the momentous occasion of her 102nd birthday. Ms. Bartolomeo was born on December 22, 1912. She grew up in West Elizabeth before moving to Clairton with her husband, Edward. They were married for 15 years before he passed from this life at the age of 43. They had 2 children, Edward and David, and three grandchildren. Ms. Bartolomeo worked in West Jefferson Hills School District for 27 years, spending much of that time as a fifth-grade teacher at the Gill Hall School, which was a one-room institution when she began teaching. Ms. Bartolomeo was involved with the Friends of the Clairton Public Library and the Women's Association of the First Presbyterian Church of Clairton, where she taught Bible studies. Ms. Bartolomeo enjoys reading, cooking and knitting, especially with her friends in the Knitty Witts Knitting Club. Ms. Bartolomeo visited Europe three times and enjoyed her travels abroad. We honor Ms. Bartolomeo for her longevity, which can be attributed to her positive outlook, and we commend her for taking a proactive approach to life. This Council wishes her all the best as she celebrates her 102nd birthday.
