Proclamation honoring Mr. Pete Schepis upon the occasion of his retirement from Allegheny County after 26 years of dedicated service.

Body...

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed with individuals dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our community; individuals such as Mr. Peter D. Schepis who has placed his stamp of character and hard work throughout the community, as both a public servant and strong leader; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Schepis holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in education/special education from Duquesne University; and

WHEREAS, from 1971 to 1988, Mr. Schepis served in a variety of positions for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Auditor General, including Regional Supervisor of the Bureau of School Audits, Regional Director of the Bureau of Public Assistance Audits, Administrative Officer/Special Projects Coordinator for the Bureau of Public Assistance, and Public Assistance Investigator for the Bureau of Public Assistance Audits; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Schepis began working for Allegheny County on December 30, 1988 as a Budget Analyst in the Department of Budget and Finance; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure with the County, Mr. Schepis has served the Department of Budget and Finance as a Grants Manager (1991-1993), Deputy Director for the Department of Human Services (1993-1996), Deputy Director of Grants Management (1996-2012), and Special Deputy Director for Health and Human Services (2012-2014); and

WHEREAS, Mr. Schepis’ dedication to the analysis and development of annual budgets, expenditure and revenue forecasting, knowledge and monitoring of federal, state and private sources of revenue and fiscal compliance, budget related legislation, development of the annual Comprehensive Fiscal Plan, including the operating, grant and capital budgets, along with his professionalism, has contributed significantly to the successful operation of the Department of Budget and Finance;
