Proclamation recognizing Dravosburg Volunteer Fire Department #1 Station 131 upon their 100th anniversary.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is home to historic volunteer fire departments that have maintained a collective dedication to serving our community; and
WHEREAS, in 1922 a group of men residing in Dravosburg held a meeting in the backroom of a local shop to discuss the grave need for a local fire department; and
WHEREAS, coordinating with Glassport’s Volunteer Fire Department, Dravosburg was able to organize and establish a volunteer fire department; and
WHEREAS, finally in 1930, following the original discussion in 1922, Dravosburg Volunteer Fire Department #1 Station 131 was incorporated; and
WHEREAS, all members of the fire department are volunteers, receiving no payment for the time they serve, and the Dravosburg Volunteer Fire Department has distinguished itself as a department of excellence and has demonstrated its commitment to providing the best fire protection to the residents of Dravosburg and surrounding communities;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that I, Allegheny County Council Member Bob Macey, do hereby recognize Dravosburg Volunteer Fire Department #1 Station 131 upon their 100th anniversary. We thank the men and women of this department for their years of dedicated service to the residents of Dravosburg and their commitment to serving the community. The members of Dravosburg Volunteer Fire Department #1 Station 131 have placed themselves at risk to serve our citizens, and for that we are grateful.
