Proclamation congratulating the Allegheny County Department of Human Services, Office of Children, Youth and Families for earning national praise from the Annie E. Casey Foundation.

WHEREAS, on July 25, 2007, the Annie E. Casey Foundation released the 18th annual KIDS COUNT Data Book, a national and state-by-state effort to track the status of children in the U.S.; and
WHEREAS, the report praised the Allegheny County Office of Children, Youth and Families for tripling its spending on prevention and intervention services, including a network of 31 neighborhood support centers for families; and
WHEREAS, the essay, referring to the Allegheny County Office of Children, Youth and Families, states that “strengthening families has been at the core of a wide-ranging set of improvements,” and adds that “families needing help are linked to community-based agencies that provide intensive, in-home services tailored to each family's unique needs”; and
WHEREAS, the Allegheny County Department of Human Services is skilled at keeping families together, and this is one reason why the Casey Foundation cited the department as a national role model;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate the Allegheny County Department of Human Services, Office of Children, Youth and Families for earning national praise from the Annie E. Casey Foundation. This Council extends its deepest appreciation for your service to your community, which serves as an inspiration to all.
