Proclamation recognizing and commending Ms. Michelle Manfredi of the Serra Catholic Girls Varsity Basketball Team upon being named The Daily News Girl's Player of the Year for two consecutive years.

WHEREAS, Michelle Manfredi, a senior at Serra Catholic High School, is a unique individual among high school basketball players in the Mon-Yough area; and
WHEREAS, As a junior in 2002-03, the 5-foot-10 Manfredi led Serra to a WPIAL Class A Title - its first since 1999 - by averaging 20.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.2 steals, and 4.5 assists per game; and
WHEREAS, Michelle's senior season was just as impressive; the Niagara College recruit averaged 17.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 3.3 steals in taking Serra (25-3) to another WPIAL title game appearance; and
WHEREAS, Michelle's scholastic achievements include being a member of the National Honor Society, the Dean's List, and the French Honor Society, as well as graduating with a 4.037 grade point average on a scale of 4.0; and
WHEREAS, Michelle has received a myriad of awards and recognitions including being named The Daily News' Girls' Player of the Year for the second year in a row, the 2003-2004 Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Section All-Star, 2003-2004 Pittsburgh Tribune-Review All-Star, Serra Catholic Most Points in One Game - 42, as well as Eat-n-Park Player of the Month;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County hereby recognizes and commends Ms. Michelle Manfredi upon being named The Daily News' Girls' Player of the Year for two consecutive years. Michelle's determination and resolve has led her to levels of achievement in which the entire community can be proud, and sets a positive example of excellence for all of Allegheny County. This achievement has conferred honor upon the County to be shared by each of us.
