Proclamations commending the Kukkiwon National Taekwondo Demonstration Team and distinguished pioneers of taekwondo for visiting Allegheny County.

WHEREAS, on October 3, 2009, the Kukkiwon National Taekwondo Demonstration Team from Seoul, South Korea will perform a unique taekwondo exhibition at Pine-Richland High School in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, the Kukkiwon National Taekwondo Demonstration Team is comprised of some of the world's greatest martial artists who have spent their lifetimes mastering the complex skills of taekwondo; and
WHEREAS, the team's objective is to spread the magnificent powers of taekwondo and Korean culture throughout the world; their presence in our community exposes our citizens to the exceptionality of these elements, which can help us learn about the culture's values of integrity, righteousness and responsibility; and
WHEREAS, by witnessing the extraordinary abilities of the demonstration team, Allegheny County citizens are encouraged to participate in the many elements of authentic Korean culture that exist in our community, and, for that, we thank the team for traveling a great distance to visit us;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, hereby welcomes the Kukkiwon National Taekwondo Demonstration Team from Seoul, South Korea and thanks the team for visiting our community. We are greatly honored to host them in Allegheny County, and we hope our citizens may learn from the team's lifetime of commitment to martial arts.
